Dr Hannah Ritchie is Deputy Editor at the online web publication Our World in Data, which uses data and research to understand the world's largest problems and how to solve them.
She is a senior researcher at the Oxford Martin School at the University of Oxford, and an honorary fellow at the University of Edinburgh's School of Geosciences and Edinburgh Centre for Carbon Innovation.
She is a fellow of the Energy for Growth hub, which focuses on ending global energy poverty. And on the advisory board to Ember Climate, which is focused on tracking and accelerating the global energy transition.
She has a BSc in Environmental Geoscience, an MSc in Carbon Management and a PhD in atmospheric and environmental sciences, all from the University of Edinburgh.
She writes and does radio work for various publications including the Washington Post, the BBC, Vox, Wired, Big Think, and others. You can find some of this work here.

In 2023 she gave a TED Talk: Are we the last generation -- or the first sustainable one?
In 2022 she was named Scotland's Youth Climate Champion.
In 2023 she was selected for Vox's 'Future Perfect 50' list of scientists, thinkers, and activists trying to make the world a better place.
